The rumor is that his daddy had a fit in the barber’s chair and told Jeff’s parents to just bring him on Wednesdays, when the barber is closed to handle him.

I couldn’t stop laughing at Lucas’ facial expressions. So cute!

Today is a very special day today because it would have been the 65th birthday (if I did my math correct) of Lucas’ nanny, Deanna. I’m sad that she never got to meet him because I think she would have adored him. I’m sad that Jeff and Missy are probably both having a sad day thinking about today, and I am thinking about them, too. I decided to take Lucas outside today and take some pictures, which was fun, but it would have been more fun if cancer had not won. Grandparents are such big parts of childrens’ lives, and I hate that Lucas is missing out on someone that would have thought he hung the moon just like her granddaughter Paige.

We have some friends who have a little girl that I love to get together with Lucas and take pictures.

Really my goal was to try to attempt to have some luck with Lucas, but he’s not really good with me when he sees the camera. He knows what I’m up to! Here’s a couple of Marley that I love.

I could really tell this time that Lucas was more alert and was pointing to the animals and making animal noises. Super cute! He loved the petting zoo!

Lucas is really growing and growing and doing all sorts of things that I am amazed by. It’s such an experience to watch the changes from birth to now. Right now, Lucas is teething… specifically his molars. He’s cut one molar but has a lot more to go. We keep ibuprofen ready at all times! It’s easy to figure out when he needs it. It’s so much easier today than it was as a new mother trying to figure everything out.

Lucas loves to make animal noises. He can make the sounds for a cow, cat, dog, fish, and tiger. He’s even gone so far as to pick up a card with one of the animals on it and said it while handing it to us. I still don’t hear him calling me anything but “Ba Ba,” maybe… I think Da Da is just easier to say. Even his moo sounds isn’t really a “Moo” as much as it is an “Mmmmmm” sound. C’mon Lucas… just add an -om to the end .

He loves to go to the pool and swim. Right now, it’s obvious this little guy has very little fear. He will stand on the side of the neighborhood pool and just jump in. Yes, it makes me nervous, but you can tell he loves it. I think we’re going to have to get some swimmies for him. I’m wondering if the swimmies would be better than the little floatie thing he has right now?

At his 16 mos check up, Lucas was 22 lbs and 8 oz (10-25%), 31 1/4″ tall (50%), and 48 cm head circumference (50-75%). They never really give you that time back when a child is born early, so his weight has always been in this range. He is getting taller though because head and length now are moving faster than weight. Which means, I have this taller big head boy
